This module is part of the BPS Essential knowledge for the expert witness series. The series is made up of 8 modules in total, and we recommend that you complete all 8 modules to maximise your learning. Ideally, the modules should be completed in order.

Presented by Susan van Scoyoc CPsychol FBPsS, this series focuses upon the knowledge you need to fulfil your responsibilities and consider the challenges along the way. 

Psychometrics in court is the seventh module in the series and it is approximately 60 minutes long. 

Please note the future changes to the full series, as outlined on the Essential knowledge for the expert witness series. 

• Understand the importance of using well-chosen psychometric tests appropriate to your legal instructions
• Understand the limitations test use and why this must be emphasised in court procedures
• Learn how to present complex data in an Expert Report
• Recognise techniques used by the legal profession to undermine the psychometric evidence
• Raising awareness of ethical and practice issues as a psychologist acting as an Expert Witness

If you are a  HCPC registered practitioner psychologists or those working towards the completion of their accredited training then this series of courses has been designed for you. It is particularly suitable for those considering embarking on practice as an Expert Witness.
