Mindful movement for ADHD (15 May 2026)
The advantages of mindfulness training for enhancing cognitive and emotional flexibility are becoming increasingly apparent, yet the way in which mindfulness is taught via standardised programs presents barriers to clients with ADHD – the very people who might benefit most. There is a lack of specific mindfulness teacher training for those working with ADHD, and the adaptations tend to be geared towards groups rather than individual work. The adaptations needed for clients with ADHD need to take this into account at a deeper level of understanding, and learning about the underlying neurocognitive changes in the ADHD brain and how mindfulness overlaps with these is crucial.
Mindful movement is one of the most underutilised approaches, and is sometimes taught incorrectly even by experienced practitioners as they are not movement practitioners. In this webinar you will learn how to adapt with confidence mindfulness practices that you are offering in groups and in individual work. You will feel more confident to offer mindful movement to clients, as you will be drawing on a neurocognitive model that helps you to understand more deeply why movement is a helpful object for those with busy minds and strong emotions. You will have a deeper understanding of how movement can be a helpful anchor AND inhibitory control training that supports the ADHD brain.
The insights will generalise to the use of mindful movement with other client populations (for example, use for working with those with trauma where traditional practices are contra indicated).
Date - Friday 15 May 2026
This webinar will be recorded. The recording will be available for 12 weeks after the live session.

- develop fluency in the neurocognitive model of mindfulness and its application to mindfulness and ADHD with specific reference to the use of mindfulness as a focused attention training object;
- have time to reflect on how mindful everyday movements can support their ADHD clients to develop their focus, reduce impulsivity and do so in ways that deshame and destigmatize attentional challenges.
